ONE IMPRESSION TEAM VISITS COMPTROLLER GENERAL OF IMMIGRATION SERVICE AT SERVICE HEADQUARTERS The team led by Ambassador of African Union's 6th Region and Permanent Representative for Nigeria and ECOWAS, Amb. Afolabi Oke paid a visit to the CGIS, Kemi Nanna Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsm, yesterday. The purpose of the visit was to seek collaboration with Nigeria Immigration Service in the area of ICT, upgrades, and other infrastructural improvements, as well as training in leadership and technology transfer towards national security and development In her brief remarks, the CGIS thanked and applauded the team for the image branding initiatives for the Service,saying, she is in sync with any idea of Public Private Partnerships (PPP) that is meant to facilitate or improve of our processes and Service delivery.

*COMPTROLLER GENERAL OF IMMIGRATION HOSTS IOM CHIEF OF MISSION* Earlier today, the Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsm, played host to a team from the International Organisation for Migration (IOM). Top on the issues discussed were the strengthening existing ties between the Service and IOM, fight against Smuggling of Migrants as well as continued partnership in safeguarding nations' borders. Receiving the team, the CGIS acknowledged the long-standing ties and partnership between the Service and the IOM. She observed that there is an upsurge in Smuggling of Migrants and also the need to review the National Border Management strategy: 2019- 2023. The CG further reiterated the service's commitment to deepen the working relationship with the organisation towards achieving national security. The IOM Team comprised of Mr. Laurent De Boeck, IOM Chief of Mission, Mr. Stephen Matete, IBG Senior Programme Manager and Emiola Oladepo, National Programme Officer, Immigration and Border Governance.

Interior Minister Describes NIS Control Centre. Tunji-Ojo made this known on Wednesday while inspecting the new facility alongside the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, and the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, at the Service Headquarters, in Sauka, Abuja. “Today, I feel so proud to be a Nigerian. That the solution was deployed by a local company even makes one happier. “What it means is that Nigerians can solve Nigeria’s problems. For me, this shows what we can achieve when we come together as a people. 17 years of waiting has come to an end. “This is not a victory for the Ministry of Interior, but a Victory for Nigeria,” he said. The interior minister said that the Public Private Partnership (PPP) drive of the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Tinubu was yielding results. Tunji-Ojo commended the Service and the NEWWORKS, the firm handling the project, stressing that the NIS had no excuse but to deliver on its mandate. Also speaking, Keyamo lauded the ministry of interior for the good work done so far. He said that the NIS had demonstrated readiness to operate in tandem with global best practices in Border Security and Migration Management Earlier, Nandap, who welcomed the two ministers, underscored the key role the project would play in facilitating seamless border governance. This, she said, included the fight against trans-border crimes, which included Smuggling of Migrants (SOM), and trafficking in Persons (TIPs). “The project will also help to reduce passenger processing time at all ports of entry as well as intelligence and data sharing collaboration amongst Security Agencies towards National Security, “she said. The CG identified Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) as important component of the integrated border management strategy the administration was committed to achieving.

THE CGIS RECEIVES IATA ON A WORKING VISIT AT THE SERVICE HEADQUARTERS, ABUJA This afternoon, the Comptroller General Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap pcc, mmis, fsm, held a meeting with representatives of International Air Transport Association (IATA) who were on a working visit ahead of the historic and official commissioning of the Command and Control Centre for Advanced Passengers Information (API) and Passenger Name Records (PNR) which is the first of its kind in Nigeria and Africa. 2. Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of New Works, Mahmud Ahmadu, a long-time strategic partner of the Service that handled the project stated that his firm has not only delivered on its promise but, also, given the Service the best that can be found anywhere in the world. 3. On its part, the Area Manager IATA West and Central Africa, Samson Fatokun whose organisation was in Nigeria for the first time, expressed great satisfaction with the project noting that his firm’s partnership with the Service will bring reputation, expertise, credibility, and acceptability to the Nation. 4. The CGIS who was visibly elated thanked the development partners and, also, explained that the project will help in both the pre-profiling and clearance of passengers within record time. She further noted that this will help combat trans-border crimes such as the Smuggling of Migrants (SOM). Additionally, she solicited the continuous support of development partners and other sister agencies, noting that when commissioned, it will be of tremendous benefit to the country, especially in the area of national security.

Earlier today, the Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, pcc, mmis, fsm played host to both the Honorable Minister of Interior, Hon (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and his counterpart from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, CON, FCIArb) at the Service Headquarters in Abuja today. The purpose of the visit was to inspect the about to be commissioned world-class Data & Monitoring Centre which is pivotal to the Service’s e-border solution project which is a game-changer in the Service’s drive to improve border governance and migration management.

The visit to Kebbi State would be incomplete without acknowledging the very important role the KAURAN GWANDU played. Governor of Kebbi State and Chief Host, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, who has been a long standing friend of the NIS, went over and beyond in ensuring the CGI and her team were not just welcomed and made comfortable, but also assented to the Service’s requests and observations in ensuring that Kebbi State, and by extension, the nation, was secured.
